Methodology
- Source. The CFTC’s Trading Organization Products list (designated contract market product filings), every page dated January 1, 2025 or later.
- What counts. Filings in the CFTC’s “Event” category, plus filings in other categories whose product name includes “event contract” (some exchanges file sports event contracts under “Financial Instrument”). Rows with status “Withdrawn” are included and shown separately.
- A filing is not one contract. One filing can certify a single game or a whole class of contracts (for example, every game in a league for a season under Regulation 40.2(d)). Compare filing counts across time, not as a count of markets listed.
- Dates are the date the CFTC list shows for each filing. Topics come from simple keyword matching on the product name and will mislabel some filings.
- See also: the regulation tracker (CFTC rulemaking and Congress) and the lawsuit tracker.
